Think you canβt get those legendary "pillows of dough" and a crispy, lacy cheese crust just because youβre Gluten-Free? Think again. Weβre shattering expectations with a GF Detroit Style pie thatβs so light, airy, and crunchy, your gluten-eating friends will be trying to steal a slice. All of our ingredients on this pizza are Gluten Free!
Using our Urban Slicer Gluten Free Detroit Style Pizza Mix, you can go from "starving" to "stuffed" in under two hours. No fancy equipment, no overnight risesβjust pure pizza magic right in your home oven.
Ingredients
Directions
In a stand mixer with a paddle attachment (or a large bowl with some elbow grease), combine the full bag of Urban Slicer GF Mix, 1 ΒΌ cups of water, and 2 Tbsp of oil. Mix until a smooth, sticky dough forms. Unlike traditional dough, this will look more like a thick cake batterβthatβs the secret to the airy crumb!
Generously oil your Detroit-style pan(s). If youβre using one 10x14 pan, dump the whole batch in. If youβre using two 8x10s, split it evenly. Use oiled fingertips to gently press the dough to the edges.
Cover the pan with plastic wrap or a damp towel. Let it sit in a warm, draft-free spot for at least 90 minutes. Using the oven on proof mode or with the the light on will help. Youβre looking for that dough to get puffy and happy.
- Preheat your oven (or grill!) to 450Β°F.
Par-bake (partially bake) the crust for 8-10 minutes, until it starts to separate from the edges.
Blanket the entire thing with your cheese, making sure to pile it extra high against the edges of the panβthatβs how you get that "frico" (burnt cheese) crust! π§
Lay down your Spicy Cupping Pepperoni directly onto the dough.
Shake a heavy layer of both Urban Slicer Pizza Mojos over the top (or you can do this after the bake)
Slide it into the oven for 10-12 minutes. Youβre looking for the cheese on the edges to be dark, bubbly, and caramelized, and the pepperoni to be curled into little spice-cups.
Let it rest for 2β3 minutes before depanning (use a spatula to free the edges).
Slice and top with thick "racing stripes" of warmed Urban Slicer Pizza Sauce.
- Go wild with the Hot Honey Drizzler. π―π₯
- Pro-Tip: This recipe is totally customizable. Want to add peppers, onions, or sausage? Throw 'em in! Just remember: the Urban Slicer way is all about the Crunch, the Chew, and the Flavor.
